Founder and Designer at MEL MAR DESIGN
I'M DEDICATED TO HELPING YOU REALISE YOUR INTERIORS DREAMS BY CREATING YOUR PERFECT HOME.
A long held passion for interior design, furniture design and styling has led to the creation of MEL MAR DESIGN.
With a former career in accounting and finance and a passion for interiors, becoming a mum to four kids shifted my perspective on career and lifestyle.
I realised that life is too short to not follow your passion! So a renewed focus to rekindle the creative life that was a big part of growing up led to a return to further studies and I eventually qualified in Kitchen, Bathroom and Product Design.
My parents instilled in me their love of design and creativity. Dad, a painter and furniture maker, and Mum, a pattern maker and seamstress, are my biggest influencers.

DESIGNING OUR HOME
Designing the family home in collaboration with our architect crystallised what is achievable when vision combines with concept, design and execution.
INSPIRATION
Travelling and searching the globe for inspiration contributes to spontaneity in form and function. Working with artisans in South America and travelling to New York to meet high-end lighting designers have been some highlights.

FASHION AND HOMEWARES RETAILER
I owned and operated a fashion and homewares boutique with my daughter in beachside Sydney. It gave me the opportunity to create a destination store for locals, interstate and international visitors. A re-design and renovation of the store transformed it from bland to beachside cool.
