THE ESSENTIALS TO DECORATING WITH A COASTAL THEME

Furniture & Homewares for a luxurious coastal vibe

As summer approaches I’m always on the lookout for products that create a relaxed coastal interiors look. The coastal, modern mediterranean aesthetic is a sublime, laidback interior style that is extremely popular and continues to be on the rise. For me, the coastal look is one of my all time favourite styles. Natural, ocean related furniture and objects give you the holiday vibe at home and is perfect for the coming warmer months.

How do you decorate with a coastal theme? I like to start with a light coloured backdrop and that means painting your walls in soft whites and neutrals. Although whites are a tried and tested choice, also consider shades of pale teal or blue, gum leaf green and blush terracotta. Then hang breezy linen curtains, add in pieces of timber furniture, a natural fibre rug such as sisal or jute and finish with coastal related accessories.

Keeping the background light and neutral allows for style updates as the seasons change. We can reflect the incoming season by changing accessories such as swapping cushions, adding in a new vase and foliage or layering with texture for warmth. Consider adding pops of colour for contrast and definition for a considered and cohesive look.

The following furniture and homeware pieces will have you dreaming of your favourite beach getaway.
